Ka tōtōtia e ngā taurahere a Māui
Ka whitia te āniwaniwa
Ka hikitia, ko Whangaroa e."

"The mist covered land
Bound by the deeds of Māui
Is radiated with colour and light,
As Whangaroa emerges."

Timata i Ōruru whakawaawa ki Oruaiti;
Me huri taku kamo ki Te Whatu o Parikihana, i Mangonui, i Taipā;
Whakawhiti atu ana ki Maungataniwha ki te hauāuru o Ōtangaroa;
Whakatere atu ki te ngahere o Ngā Puketītī a te waka Mataatua;
Rerere ngā maunga roto, maunga runga o Waipapa, o Te Whau, o Upokourau;
Marere atu ki te pūmoana o Takou ki Te Kōpua Kawau – te wāhi takoto o Mataatua;
Toro atu ki takutai o Te Pikopikoiwhiti;
Huri anō ki te Pokopoko o Hinenuitepō me Te Urenui o Mauipōtiki;
No Te Aukapanapana a Kupe tae atu ki te tuāwhenua ki Tangitu.
Ko tēnei te rohe o Whangaroa e mihi ana.

The rohe outlined in the tauparapara above, is the traditional rohe o Whangaroa, and remains so, for ngā whānau me ngā hapū o Whangaroa.

Our role as Kaitiaki Whangaroa is to protect, restore and enhance the natural environment within this region to enable biodiversity in abundance.
